TANJOON ART
Author & Illustrator
Hi! My name is Tanjoon, meaning “simple” in Japanese.

I started drawing since I could remember. I've scribbled on my sketchbooks all the time and imagined stories.

I create stories about girls and women—their joy, pain, adventures and growth.
I’m drawn to emotional narratives and character-driven worlds.

As a storyteller, my primary audience is my childhood self. I create for “little Tanjoon,” who was curious, confused, vigorous, heartbroken, and full of chaos. I don't believe children's books always have to be about creams and unicorns- because that little Tanjoon always loved a hint of delightful darkness from the books. And it naturally weaves its way into my work.

My work is a ritual to me—a way to empower and heal my inner child. Through my work, I hope my audience can feel the same sense of connection and reassurance.

Working in my home office based in BC, Canada, I use traditional medium such as watercolor, acrylic and color pencil, as well as digital tools like Procreate and Photoshop.
With an animation background and passion for storytelling, I bring characters and scenes to life.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Cartoon & Animation in 2023, and I continue to develop projects that blend illustration and storytelling.
